Large Utility Detects Tube Leaks in Combined Cycle Using Non-Invasive Technology
44:30
Increased availability of alternative energy sources has contributed to combined cycle power plants operating more cyclically. Cycling operation increases thermal stressing of many components, specifically tube bundles within a heat recovery steam generator. HRSG tube failures are one of the most prevalent causes of an unplanned outage at a combined cycle facility. The large western utility worked with Rosemount resources, as well as Nooter/Eriksen, to deploy WirelessHART 708’s to detect leaks in the HRSG tube bundles of the combined cycle power plant.
