AMS Implementation for Maintenance and Reliability at MEG Energy

MEG Energy Corp. is a Canadian oil sands company focused on sustainable in situ development and production in the southern Athabasca oil sands region of Alberta. The Christina Lake facility started operations in 2008. The site AMS Device Manager System co-deployed with DeltaV was not utilized at MEG Energy till January 2016. Stage one was to configure the AMS database and clean up items from the past. Stage two was to start monitoring valves. Stage 3 was to start monitoring all HART capable valves in the plant and the field, of the facility. Currently we are monitoring 7200 devices (1633 Valves and 5567 Transmitters). This presentation will discuss the implementation challenges and successes as well as the financial pay back experienced.
